The Next Ten Years

We decided to recreate -- or at least attempt to recreate -- our duck pond date ten years ago.
Back then, we rode together on the four-wheeler and we didn't have Stella with us; this time, Abby and I walked there and back.
We talked about all the changes in our life, lives, throughout the past decade -- just a few: my father died, the Pugwash house was sold, we went to Scotland, my mother moved in, Dwayne retired, I published a book -- and we marvelled at how much is different, yet some important things have stayed mostly the same.
The water level is down at the duck pond, not a good thing, but it's still there and it's still our favourite spot.
What a beautiful day. A good omen for the next ten years.
